This year Buddha Purnima is on 26  May. According to Siddhartha Gautama, later known as Gautama Buddha, was born in 623 B.C. in Nepal.

Gautam Buddha was the founder of Buddhism. People who have embraced Buddhism in India prefer to wear white clothes and avoid consuming non-veg food. Instead of that, they prefer to have 'Kheer' as it is believed that a woman named Sujata offered a bowl of milk to Gautam Buddha.

Buddha taught that he was not a God, but only a man with truth seeker.  The 3 main beliefs of Buddhism are The three Universal Truths, The four noble Truths and The Noble Eightfold Path. Lord Buddha insisted his followers should not consume any kind of meat or fish even vegetarian food touched by meat should be washed before being eaten. Today on his birth anniversary, we should remember his quotes and thoughts towards life.

"No one can escape from death and unhappiness. If people expect only happiness in life, they will be disappointed" - Lord Buddha
