Vinayak Damodar Savarkar Jayanti 2021

Every year 28 May is observed in India as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar Jayanti. He played a vital role in Indian Freedom struggle, especially in First war of Independence in 1857. Savarkar was born on 28 May, 1883 In Mumbai Maharashtra. He is commonly known as ‘Veer Savarkar’. 

Savarkar began his political activities as a high school student and continued to do so at Ferguson College in Pune. When he went to United Kingdom for his law studies, he published books advocating complete Indian independence by revolutionary. He was also arrested in 1910 but anyhow he tried to escape from cell but he failed and re-arrested. 

After 1937, he started travelling widely, becoming a forceful orator and writer. Savarkar was critical of the decision taken by the Congress working committee in its Wardha session of 1942, and passed resolution “Quit India but keep your armies here”. He played a major role in independence of India. He died in Feb, 1966 by his self choice in Bombay. But he is famous as ‘Veer Savarkar’.

Today on his birth anniversary we should remember him and his contribution towards freedom India resolution.
